solarpunk is just another mercy for the hopeful few is a piece that looks at hope as a form of radicalism. This piece was catalysed by the often divided opinion of just how hopeful we can be in the times we are in, particularly in reference to Dear Alice, an animation by The Line that depicts a solarpunk future where we seemingly live at one with the Earth and natural resources.
This piece uses the Schumann resonance to depict the Earth, and the Sun’s resonant frequency as fundamental frequencies; starting with a series built on the Earth’s frequency and moving to the Sun’s over time. Are we leaving Earth and going to the sun? Is the sun getting closer to us until that’s all that’s left?
The text takes a quite heartwarming scientific endeavour of reaching extraterrestrials through greetings and niceties in 55 languages. This piece uses 7 of these greetings, translated into English.
